Oclean W1 Oral Irrigator Wins Red Dot for High Design Quality

Shenzhen Yunding Information Technology Co., Ltd./Ocleandesign lab (Song Kan & Haoxiang Hu) has been successful in the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2021. The international jury has awarded OCLEAN W1 the distinction “Red Dot”, which stands for high design quality.

The traditional dental irrigator relies on the impact force generated by jet water to clean the gingival crevices. Because of the high density of water, the impact force is also greater, so it is very common for the gingiva to suffer impact bleeding. Oclean's new patented aerodynamic oral irrigator, through innovative aerodynamic technology, mixes air into water. Oxygen-containing air bubbles are continuously sprayed to clean and penetrate deep into the teeth and periodontal pockets as to achieve aerobic flushing. While miniaturizing the volume, it can also maintain full power so that the user can enjoy the freshness of a clean smile, anytime anywhere.

Its ergonomic grip design fits comfortably in the hand, especially with its Egyptian Plover bionic design and Nine Axis 3D laser carving process finish. The innovative generation of Ocleanpatented structural design produces compressed bodies for a smaller size (only 150g in weight), which is smaller and lighter than most smartphones. With its magnetic direct charging design, there is no need to change the battery, making it both economical and convenient. It can be charged immediately after use from the magnetic direct charging, and will be fully charged in only about three hours.

Evaluation platform for good design

The Red Dot Award: Product Design dates back as far as 1955 and recognises the best products for a given year. The roughly 50 jurors were once again true to the motto “In search of good design and innovation” in the 2021 competition. The international panel of experts comprises specialists from a wide variety of sectors. They scrutinised the products entered in the competition in a process that spanned several days and were guided by assessment criteria such as the product’s formal quality, ergonomics and longevity.

Oclean W1 can be seen in the online exhibition on the Red Dot website from 21 June 2021. That date also marks the beginning of the Red Dot Design Week, during which this year’s award winners and Shenzhen Yunding Information Technology Co., Ltd. will be celebrated online.

From 22 June 2021, Oclean W1 will also be included in the exhibition “Design on Stage” in the Red Dot Design Museum Essen, where all of the award-winning products are showcased. Visitors to the museum can experience the quality of the designs in a space that features contemporary design solutions and historical industrial architecture. The Red Dot Design Yearbook 2021/2022 comes out in August. The publication provides a comprehensive overview of the state of the art and trends in product design.
